Warriors cruise to 70-21 win over FC

The Caledonia football team made it 7-0 last Friday night in Harmony when the Warriors defeated Fillmore Central 70-21.

The Warriors once again completely dominated the game, as they racked up 564 yards of offense while holding the Falcons to 183.

Caledonia jumped out to a big lead, as they out-scored FC 28-0 in the opening period.

Ivan Augedahl was first to score on a nine yard run. The Austin Goergen kick was good and Cal had a 7-0 lead.

Josh Gran intercepted a Falcon pass on the next series and returned it 17 yards for the second Warrior TD. Goergen’s kick was good and the lead was 14-0.

Gran picked up his second TD of the game when he broke free and romped 44 yards. The Goergen kick was good and the score was 21-0.

Caledonia’s fourth TD of the first period came on a 44 yard pass play from Gran to Seth Kasten. Goergen’s kick was good and the Warrior lead was 28-0.

The Falcons got on the scoreboard early in the second period on a 13 yard pass play. The FC kick was good and the Warrior lead was 28-7.

Gran then found Luke Lampert open for a 13 yard TD pass. Goergen’s fifth kick of the night was good and the score was 35-7.

The Warriors increased their lead to 42-7 when Seth Kasten scored from four yards out and Goergen’s kick was good.

The Falcons made it 42-14 right before the first half ended on a 12 yard pass and an extra point.

The Warriors scored first blood in the third period when they marched the ball all the way down the field and scored on a three yard run by Connor McCormick. Goergen, who was 7 for 7 on the night, scored the extra point for the 49-14 lead.

The Falcons scored their third TD on the night through the air. This time it was a 45 yard bomb. Their extra point kick was good and the score was 49-21.

Ethan Lapham pulled in a pass from 17 yards out from Gran for Caledonia’s eighth TD of the night. Brandon Vonderohe’s kick was good and the score was 56-21.

Zach Kasten scored the next Caledonia TD on a six yard run. Vanderohe’s kick was good and the score was 63-21.

Kennan Bruening scored the final touchdown of the night on a 15 yard run. The Vonderohe kick was again good for the 70 point total.

Offensive stats

Augedahl led the ground game for the Warriors, who totaled 422 yards. He picked up 131 yards on 12 carries and scored one TD. Gran had 66 yards and two TDs on five carries. Matt Petersen had 65 yards on 11 carries, Seth Kasten had 32 yards and a TD on two carries, McCormick had 30 yards and one TD on four carries, Zach Kasten had 20 yards and one TD on five carries, Bruening had 20 yards and one TD on two carries, Abe Diersen had 12 yards on three carries and Brad Strub had six yards on two carries.

Gran completed 7 for 13 passes for 142 yards and three TDs. He was intercepted once.

Seth Kasten caught one pass for 44 yards and a TD. Ethan Lapham had two catches for 39 yards and a TD. Luke Lampert had two catches for 31 yards and a TD, Travis Frank had one catch for 22 yards and Brett Colsch had one catch for six yards.

Lampert had a kick off return for 45 yards. Petersen had one for 17 yards and Josh Lampert had one for three yards.

Lampert had two punt returns for 11 yards, Jared Hegge had one return for 19 yards and Adam Drenckhahn had one return for nine yards.

Defensive stats

The Warrior defense had five takeaways. Jim Costigan had two interceptions to go along with three tackles. Gran returned an interception for the TD to go along with one tackle. Luke Lampert had one interception and two tackles and Garret Mullen had a fumble recovery and a tackle.

Frank had eight tackles, Seth Kasten had six, Mitch Reiser and Alex Betz each had five tackles and Petersen had four.

Up next

The Warriors will host the Southland Rebels this Wednesday night with the Three Rivers South title on the line. The Rebs come into the game with a 6-1 record.
